Avon Park Depot Museum View this post on Instagram A history museum in an old depot is always a must-stop for me. With any luck, they're actually open, as was the case in Avon Park. Plenty of local stories and photos of the town, which was heavily influenced by its first two residents, a couple brought over from England in the hopes of attracting Northerners to the area. The Missus was from Stratford-upon-Avon, resulting in the name, and she had the founders change the name of the central park to "mall." The British influence carried over to the high school – can you imagine marching in Florida in *those* hats?! Scorching! • • @visitsebring #avonpark #localhistory #marchingband #grenadiers @tincantourists1919 #gorving #waybackwhen #depot #LoveFL #floridacrackertrail A post shared by Sara | RV Travel in the US (@thelonglongroad) on Feb 21, 2020 at 1:51pm PST
