Istokpoga Park View this post on Instagram About a mile down the road, I spotted another sign. Let's call it the "Canal Area", because that name looks like a mouthful! "Boat Ramp" almost guarantees that I'll fit, and there was no issue here. I found a massive, paved boat trailer parking area, an equestrian trailer section, and a primitive campground with around a dozen RVs. • • • We took a decidedly less shaded walk, but there was water access involved, so Herbie was fine with another excursion. I gathered a bit of info about SFWMD camping procedures, realised just how big Florida counties used to be, and learned a little about the Kissimmee River flooding, the controls put in place, and the attempts to put it back to it's original state. That particular info reinforced how difficult it was for the Florida Crackers to find a dry route across the state. We also spotted a curious Gopher Tortoise, who, on second thoughts, really wasn't *that* curious 🐢 • • #morenature #enjoyanotherwalk #exhaustthatpuppy #getoutsideeverychanceyouhave #gophertortoise #boatramp @sfwmd_gov #istokpoga #blessyou #LoveFL #floridacrackertrail A post shared by Sara | RV Travel in the US (@thelonglongroad) on Feb 11, 2020 at 11:37am PST
