Florida CCC Museum View this post on Instagram Let's kick things off with this small but brilliant museum, free with your entrance to Highlands Hammock State Park. The Florida CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) Museum covers both the state and national history of the wonderful group of young men that made a huge impact on the infrastructure of the country's natural areas between 1933 and 1942. A project close to Franklin Delano Roosevelt's heart, he got it up and running in less than 40 days after his inauguration. • • There's lots of resources out there if you'd like to learn more, but I'd recommend a stop at this little spot if you are ever in the Sebring area. The displays are engaging, and I particularly appreciated the information on the CCC projects that became the background of Florida's State Park system – check out that bridge at O'Leno! Added to my list 😃 • • @fl.stateparks @floridastateparksfoundation @highlandshammockstatepark #ccc #history #museum @visitsebring #floridacrackertrail #theothersideofflorida #LoveFL @visitflorida A post shared by Sara | RV Travel in the US (@thelonglongroad) on Feb 5, 2020 at 9:27am PST
