Highlands Hammock State Park Campground View this post on Instagram A Hammock is an area of trees whose canopy interlocks, minimizing the light that can hit the ground. We have many of these "forests" in Florida, Highlands Hammock being one of the protected ones. The campground is peaceful, if a bit tricky to manoeuvre around in larger rigs (but there were some brave souls that had managed to squeeze in!). It's popular with out Winter Floridians, so spaces are hard to come by. One attraction is the abundant wildlife, best seen on a tram tour. Most of the park is closed to vehicles, besides walking and biking, the tram is the way to go. Tickets, however, get snapped up quickly. I'm keeping it on the list for next time. I did spot a couple of deer, and the ever-present gator warnings. Birds, too, are plentiful. A real nature-lover's paradise. • • @fl.stateparks @highlandshammockstatepark #tramtour #hammockinn #ccc #statepark #nature #getoutside #seecoolthings @visitsebring #LoveFL @visitflorida #floridacrackertrail A post shared by Sara | RV Travel in the US (@thelonglongroad) on Feb 5, 2020 at 12:32pm PST
