Palo Alto Battlefield NHP – VC View this post on Instagram Sitting at Resaca, plotting my next move, I noticed that Palo Alto National Battlefield was 20 minutes away. They'd be closing 20 minutes after that, but sometimes the grounds are open later. That's not the case here. • • I entered the VC six minutes before their 4:45pm closing time, but the Ranger couldn't have been friendlier and more welcoming. He gave me all sorts of tips and information on the "satellite" battlefield locations, and pointed me to an app that has downloadable tours you can follow. I did a little bit of souvenir shopping, then headed out with the plan to return on my journey back through town. • • Love the changing info display at the entrance – This Week in US-Mexican War History. This tidbit was particularly relevant, as I stayed at the Battle of the Bulls wayside outside of Tombstone. There's not a whole lot of information at the location, so this was my first time learning that the Battle of the Bulls was *literally* a battle with bulls! • • @nationalparkservice @paloaltonps #quickstop #infogathering #readthesigns #learnalittle #usmexicanwar #history #illbeback #southtexas #traveltexas #homefortheholidays #floridabound A post shared by Sara | RV Travel in the US (@thelonglongroad) on Dec 14, 2019 at 7:32am PST
