Bear Creek Public Access View this post on Instagram I debated Pearrygin Lake State Park for an overnight, but at $55, I couldn't bring myself to splurge. Washington is damn expensive when it comes to camping, but most sites have been full (or nearly full), so people seem happy to pay. I'd spotted this listing, about 2 miles or so up the road from Pearrygin, and the cost? $0! It's a Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife campground, so you do need the Discover Pass. When I got there, it was mine…all mine! A wildfire had not long swept through, but it looks like all the damaged trees have been removed. Signs of life are springing back here and there, and I even spotted a deer early the next morning before we left (it's in the last photo, but the resolution probably negates any chance you have of spotting it!). • • There's no location listing on IG or FB for this place. Bear Creek #1 Public Access might bring up the site on Google Maps, if you're curious. It's big and spacious, with at least one ADA site and some pit toilets, but the road in is a wee bit washboarded – something to keep in mind if that isn't your cup of tea. • • @thewdfw #discoverpass #freecamping #bearcreek #cascadeloop #methowvalley #forestcamping #serenity #allmine #wildfire #visitwashington #getoutside #feelingloopy A post shared by Sara | RV Travel in the US (@thelonglongroad) on Sep 3, 2019 at 11:24am PDT
